We have been continuing our support of Samaritan Ministries, which operates a soup kitchen, homeless shelter, substance abuse program and mental health clinic in Winston-Salem.
Last month, we joined iHeartRadio to sponsor the Triad’s Largest Yard Sale featuring more than 140 vendors.
We asked bargain shoppers to bring nonperishable food donations for admission to the event, and they donated hundreds of pounds of food. The first 2000 shoppers received a free Deuterman Law Group tote bag.
Our employees, who participated in the Penny Drive for Samaritan Ministries over the holidays, have also been finding ways to support the organization with donations and volunteering throughout the year.
Scott Henley, our director of Human Resources, and Maureen Olsen, our Winston-Salem office manager, stopped by earlier this summer to deliver food the staff collected.
Employees participated in a contest to see which team could collect the most food for Samaritan Ministries. We were able to collect two carts overflowing with canned goods and pasta for the Soup Kitchen.
“Donations like this are how we keep costs low and only spend $1.99 to provide a meal for a Soup Kitchen guest,” according to Samaritan Ministries.
