Kevin Claussen knew from an early age that he wanted to become a lawyer, and his drive to help regular people facing life-altering legal challenges led to a career in injury law.

Kevin joined the Deuterman Law Group as a law clerk in 2023, and he is now an attorney on the workers’ compensation team in the Greensboro office. He is a committed advocate for his injured clients, He fights on his clients’ behalf against insurance companies and employers to secure the medical treatment, benefits and compensation to which they are entitled.

Kevin graduated from Elon University School of Law, where he was the recipient of an academic merit scholarship. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, majoring in political science.

His past professional work has given Kevin experience in various areas of the law, including real estate, contracts, consumer privacy, corporate law, nonprofit law, compliance and pro bono cases.

Previously, he worked as a summer associate for Hayes Daniel LLP, a Chicago firm specializing in business law and estate planning. While in law school, he was a legal intern at Kontoor Brands Inc., a global apparel company based in Greensboro. He also interned with the Asheville Art Museum, assisting the museum leadership and legal team during a reaccreditation process.

Kevin also interned with the American Civil Liberties Union, helping staff attorneys evaluate appeals for legal representation from prisoners and other members of the public.

In law school, Kevin served on the Moot Court Board and helped organize Elon Law’s annual moot court competition and coach first-year law student competitors. He also represented Elon Law in moot court competitions against other law schools. He was a finalist in the South Texas College of Law Houston’s National Online Moot Court Competition.

At Elon, he also was an active member of OUTLaw, a social and educational organization that fosters a supportive and accepting environment for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students, faculty, staff, and professionals.

Kevin was admitted to the N.C. State Bar in 2024. He also is a member of the N.C. Bar Association, the Greensboro Bar Association and the N.C. Advocates for Justice.

In his free time, Kevin is an avid runner who enjoys listening to podcasts and audiobooks while he exercises. He also is a fan of prestige television shows and film, and he enjoys reading science-fiction and fantasy novels.

Kevin lives in Greensboro with his dog, Toffee.
