Understanding Negligence
We hear it on the news all the time that someone was injured because of someone else’s negligence. But what exactly is negligence? Negligence is when a person fails to exercise reasonable care, that results in the harm or injury to another.
Reasonable care is a level of care that a reasonable person would exercise under similar circumstances. Negligence can include acts or a failure to act that breaches a duty of care.
Common Examples of Negligent Driving
In the context of driving, some negligent acts that we often see are speeding, driving in a careless or reckless manner, or texting while driving.
