Christine Burnside has wanted to be an attorney since she participated in her high school’s mock trial program when she was 14 years old. In the years since, her love of the law has only grown with her experience.
Christine’s true passion is helping injured and disabled people. At the Deuterman Law Group, Christine handles Social Security Disability cases and is the Managing Attorney of the Social Security Disability department. Her compassionate nature combined with her legal knowledge makes this a perfect fit for Christine.
Christine graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 with a degree in political science and a second major in English. She enrolled at the UNC School of Law in 2009 and earned her juris doctor in 2012. She was admitted to the N.C. State Bar the same year and joined the Deuterman Law Group in September 2012.
In 2019, Christine became one of a select group of Board Certified Specialists in Social Security Disability Law in N.C. The N.C. State Bar offers this certification as a service to the public to help them identify lawyers who are most qualified to represent them. Board certified attorneys have demonstrated special knowledge, skill and proficiency in a particular area of the law. There are currently only 35 Board Certified Specialists in Social Security Disability Law in North Carolina. Christine now sits on the N.C. State Bar’s Social Security Disability Specialization Committee.
Christine is a member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimant’s Representatives (NOSSCR), a specialized bar association for attorneys and advocates who represent Social Security Disability claimants throughout the country. Christine has served on the Board of Directors for NOSSCR. She is currently the Fourth and DC Circuit Representative for the organization. Christine has given several presentations at NOSSCR Conferences, educating her peers on various aspects of the law. She is passionate about mentoring newer Social Security disability law practitioners and has spoken at several NOSSCR NextGen Conferences for attorneys and representatives who have less than 10 years of practice in this field.
Christine lives in Greensboro with her husband and their twin elementary-aged children. She is an avid singer and serves on the Board of the Choral Arts Collective, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to bring choral music participation and appreciation to our community. Her hobbies include karaoke, playing and teaching American mahjong, and reading.
