Can You Work Part-Time While Applying for Social Security Disability?

You may have heard that if you’re applying for Social Security disability benefits, you can still work part time. And that’s true. Here’s what you need to know.
Your Income Matters in Social Security Disability Claims
If you’re working while you’re applying for Social Security disability benefits, the Social Security, Social Security Administration is going to consider two things:
- One, the amount of money you make. There is a specific limitation on how much you can earn a month and still be found disabled.
- Now, what you need to know about that is that it is before taxes. So when you’re considering the amount that you make a month, you need to think about the amount that you get before the taxes are taken out. If you’re making too much money and you work for over six months, you’re not going to have a valid claim.
The Work You Do Matters in Social Security Disability Claims
3.The other thing you need to know is that Social Security is going to consider the work you’re doing as evidence of what you can do. How much you can lift, how much you can stand, how much you can be around people.
So those are two things to take into consideration.
